Bat Egg

Happy 5th Hatchday Bat Egg & v1.0-17 changelog

Hello egg friends and friend eggs!

Bat Egg turns 5 today! To celebrate, here's a small patch that adds some tutorial improvements, a new gameplay setting, and a new egg skin.

There is a new "fragile hatchables" setting to match the existing "fragile hatchling" setting. By default, this option is disabled, but when enabled (which was the game's previous default behaviour), hitting an obstacle or otherwise losing an egg will lose it forever. The new default behaviour causes lost eggs to respawn at their branch - you'll still need to go back for them, but befriending hatchlings is now a little easier.

The tutorial now shows little indicators of when buttons would need to be pressed in order to match the tutorial silhouette's movements. My hope is that this makes some of the more important maneuvers easier to internalise for any players who are having trouble following the text based tutorial prompts and helps make gliding more clear. The ball in the tutorial now respawns when lost, regardless of the "fragile hatchables" setting, and that section of the tutorial will not progress until the ball has been brought to a nest.

Last but not least, I've added a new "owl egg" skin. If you'd like to see this one progress from rough sketch to finished skin, you can find an archive of today's dev stream in two parts over here and here (complete with audio issues and misbehaving mouse \o/ ).

Enjoy!
